Electing a President in 2020

Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and they said to him, “Behold, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint a king for us to judge us like all the nations.” 1 Samuel 8:4-5. Israel was in a time of unrest, experiencing a vacuum of leadership, and felt that installing a King will ‘make us like other nations”. Read what God said next to Samuel,”  The Lord said to Samuel, “Obey the voice of the people in relation to all that they say to you. For it is not you they have rejected, but Me they have rejected from reigning over them… Now then, obey their voice. Only you will testify against them and proclaim to them the judgment concerning the king who will reign over them.” – 1 Samuel 8:7, 9. Reading in Chapter 9, after Saul had inquired about his donkey’s, God told Samuel, “this is the man who I have chosen to rule over my people.” Samuel then anointed Saul and gave him instructions on what will happen tomorrow at the ceremony to install him as Prince over Isreal. Saul hid in the baggage at this event. ( He has a self-image problem amongst many other character issues). They find and anoint him, and the newly installed King of Isreal starts a tumultuous reign of Isreal. His power ” Then God spoke to Samuel: “I’m sorry I ever made Saul king. He’s turned his back on me. He refuses to do what I tell him.” Samuel was angry when he heard this. He prayed his anger and disappointment all through the night. He got up early in the morning to confront Saul but was told, “Saul’s gone. He went to Carmel to set up a victory monument in his own honor, and then was headed for Gilgal.” By the time Samuel caught up with him, Saul had just finished an act of worship, having used Amalekite plunder for the burnt offerings sacrificed to God.” 1Samuel 15:11 MSG.

In the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election in  53. days We will vote for another four years of Donald Trump or elect a new President Joe Biden. I regularly read of people who voted for Mr.Trump, who “are sorry they ever voted for him.” In our country, we do not elect a King, we the populace votes, then the Electoral College votes to install the next President. One of these men shadows a Saul and the other a David. Saul had turned hunting David into a full-time war. David was anointed King because Saul had listened to the “people, sacrificed an offering to please them, and disobeyed the exact instructions of Samuel the Prophet.  “Samuel said to him (Saul), “The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors–to one better than you.” 1 Samuel 15:28. We are in this moment in America. ” there is one better than the current occupant of the White House that Father God has raised that will Pastor this nation into wholeness.” A house divided against itself will not stand. Jesus said. A Pastor demonstrates these qualities Blameless as a steward of God, above reproach, faithful husband to his wife, temperate, sober, vigilant,  prudent of good behavior, orderly, respectable given to hospitality, able to teach. Now we are electing a political leader, not a religious pastor. The soul of this nation is at stake now. The parallels of Saul hating David are numerous to the current hatred stated over the social media and the news networks. Our country needs a reprieve and healing of millions of souls grieving about the passing of loved ones because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the economic and ecological crisis manifesting in horrendous ways. The answers are not found in the political sphere only; they are from people who seek the Kingdom of God for answers. Join me as I pray for God’s love and grace to bless this nation again.
